Transform Chronic Stress: Heal Your Triggers with EMDR Therapy

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, helps individuals
heal from traumatic experiences and negative beliefs. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which often focuses on discussing and analyzing problems, EMDR uses a structured eight-phase process that includes the use of bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, taps, or sounds. The core idea behind EMDR is that traumatic memories can become
"stuck" in the brain, and the bilateral stimulation helps to reprocess these memories, allowing the brain to integrate them more adaptively. This process can lead to a reduction in the emotional distress associated with the memories and the transformation of negative beliefs. By targeting the brain's natural healing mechanisms, EMDR facilitates the formation of new neural pathways, which can change the way individuals perceive and respond to past events. This method is particularly effective for addressing issues like PTSD, anxiety, and depression, offering a unique alternative to traditional talk therapy by focusing on the brain's ability to heal itself through reprocessing and integration.

At the heart of my journey is a deep commitment to helping individuals reclaim joy by working through negative beliefs that they may be holding onto subconsciously.

Where Wellness Begins:

My Personal EMDR Story

My journey to finding EMDR started when I was doing couple’s therapy with my wife. We were working through personal triggers and I kept finding I was still reacting to some of my wife’s behaviors, which I was taking personally. These behaviors had nothing to do with me, but I was finding myself getting intensely triggered by them. Our couple’s therapist recommended EMDR. As a therapist for nearly 15
years at this point, I had heard of how successful EMDR can be, but I didn’t know much about it. I agreed to give it a try to work through some childhood
abandonment issues that were being triggered in my present relationship. After only 2 sessions, I was no longer triggered by these same behaviors that had left me reeling with anxiety for nearly a decade. Since then I have done
extensive work on myself to heal other past negative events and programming that had me believing I wasn't good enough or safe. I struggled with medical anxiety for years, and found myself spiraling out when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. I made it my goal to continue to heal my past so that I could feel better navigating this setback. I had to reprocess old memories and work toward installing a positive belief that I am safe, healthy and thriving. After some healing, I found myself slipping back to my old ways of putting others’ needs before my own and not investing in my well-being. Then I had a reoccurrence of breast cancer, and knew that this was part of my journey to further my healing at a soul level. This wake-up call gave me the push I needed to recommit to my healing. And that is when I discovered the power and potency of self- administered EMDR. I was able to walk through the most recent episode with a calmness and clarity that I never knew was possible. I share this because I know so many of you struggle with similar anxieties and fears, and I believe wholeheartedly that we can all reach an optimal level of well-being by healing our past.

Kind Words About My Work

I want to share my gratitude for the incredible EMDR treatment I received from Shannon Healer.

My experience with EMDR under the guidance of Shannon has transformed my life. Her

thoughtful approach made me feel safe to begin this journey and begin healing from several

severe traumas; One of which was extreme emotional, physical and mental abuse from my ex.

At times, I felt I could no longer endure the endless ruminating, anxiety, self doubt and fear. Shannon’s openness, knowledge, care and comfort put me at ease immediately. After 4 months

and 8 sessions, I broke through my negative thoughts, stopped letting my traumas smother me

and found myself full of hope. Months later I am amazed at how my thinking has changed and

how much I love and appreciate me. I won’t hesitate to return for a tune-up if needed. I can’t

thank Shannon enough for helping me find the goodness when I could not.

Shannon created a healing, safe, and supportive atmosphere as she guided me through our EMDR sessions. Shannon is energetically grounded, open, and compassionate, which allowed me to feel comfortable discovering and exploring my deepest wounds. I felt fully emotionally vulnerable with Shannon because her aura, presence, and way of communicating felt well-intentioned, and rooted in heart and deep trust.

Working with Shannon has been a transformative experience thus far. She brings an intuitive warmth to the space that immediately makes me feel safe and at home. I really appreciate the way she blends a variety of techniques, insights, and practices into our EMDR sessions. I’ve always struggled with seeing results with simple talk therapy. With EMDR and with Shannon’s lead, I feel like now I have these tangible tools and practices that I can carry with me and apply into my daily life when we aren’t together. It is empowering! I finally feel that I’m moving forward and feel so lucky to be in such good hands.
